September 11, 2011 Memorial Service & Start of Church School

The church bells tolled at 8:46 AM and again at 9:03
after-which the choir sang "God Bless America" and the Liturgy
began.   Although this special Sunday is the commemoration of the
tenth anniversary of an attack on our great God fearing country, it is also the
feast of the Beheading of the Forerunner of Christ, St. John the Baptist.

After the Liturgy a memorial service was held for all those who lost their lives exactly 10
years ago.  The choir sang "America the Beautiful."

This summer four young people from the parish attended the Diocesan Church School Camp.  The All Saints Camp and chapel are located in Emlenton Pennsylvania.   All four campers spoke of their experiences at the camp and thanked the parish for the financial support they received.   The campers had a slide presentation.

The Volunteers

A group of people answered the request to plant flowers and pull weeds in the flower beds around the church and at the monument.  These people are Mr. Tim Petty, Mrs. Sally Morgan, Mrs. Katherine Kustich, Mrs. Deborah Greaves with her children: Matthew, David, and Christina.  It took but a few hours and the grounds look beautiful.  Thank you to these wonderful people who took time from their busy day to plant flowers.

The St. Vladimir Pyrohy Group were able to support the  eighth annual American Cancer Society Relay for Life held at the Tri-C Western Campus.  Please view the entire letter of thanks from Councilman Sean Brennan to all participants at this link.
