All are invited to our annual Ukrainian Festival on Saturday, July 13 from 12:00-11:00 PM. There will be Ukrainian food and arts and crafts for sale, a program including Ukrainian music, and more. All are welcome!  More information here

Celebration of the Feast Day at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio

On Sunday, July 7, 2024, St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, celebrated a joyous parish feast day. The Divine Liturgy was led by Pastor Fr. Michael Hontaruk, alongside Pastor Emeritus Fr. John Nakonachny and Protodeacon Ihor Mahlay. The congregation united in prayer for the wellbeing of the parish, peace in Ukraine, and the prosperity of the United States. During the Divine Liturgy, the parish choir beautifully sang under the direction of choir director Mr. Markian Komichak. Following the Liturgy, a delightful banquet was held in the Grand Hall, expertly prepared by the Sisterhood of St. Olha under the leadership of Mrs. Iryna Dudyak, and beautifully decorated by sisterhood members guided by Mrs. Liudmyla Ivakhiv, Hall Manager, with additional touches from Ulyana and David Woznak. Mr. Geof Greenleaf, Parish Board President, served as the Master of Cemony. The dinner commenced with the Lord’s Prayer, and Fr. Michael and Fr. John blessed the food. A surprise performance by renowned Ukrainian singer Oksana Bilozir, sponsored by Dr. Taras Mahlay and the School of Bandura, evoked a sense of being in Ukraine. Parish Administrator Mrs. Lucy Komichak spoke about the upcoming centennial celebration. Scholarships were awarded by Mr. Serhij Nahornij to high school graduates Mykola Logvynyuk and Anastasia Vygovska. The celebration concluded with heartfelt thanks from Fr. Michael Hontaruk, who encouraged everyone to continue working and praying together as one family in Jesus Christ.

A Heartfelt Evening of Appreciation for St. Olha Sisterhood Members

On Thursday, June 27, 2024, our St. Olha Sisterhood of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, held an appreciation evening at the Ukrainian restaurant "Shynok" to honor the dedicated efforts of our sisterhood members over the past year. Mrs. Iryna Dudyak, the President of the sisterhood, expressed her heartfelt gratitude to everyone for their hard work and presented a comprehensive report. Pastor of the Cathedral, Fr. Michael, on behalf of the clergy, sisterhood members, and all parishioners, extended his thanks to Pani Iryna for her exemplary leadership of the St. Olha Sisterhood, presenting her with a bouquet of roses as everyone sang "Mnohaya Lita." Pani Iryna Dudyak then congratulated Mrs. Maria Pobywajlo and Dobrodiyka Iryna Mahlay on their birthdays. Pani Ivanka Loza added a delightful surprise with a free raffle for the sisterhood members. The evening concluded with a memorable group photograph. God bless our St. Olha Sisterhood members and their President, Mrs. Iryna Dudyak, as we eagerly anticipate more parish events they will organize. We encourage all women who are not yet members to join this wonderful organization, where we work together for the wellbeing of our parish while enjoying each other's company.

The Holy Pentecost Celebration at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio

On Pentecost Sunday, June 23, 2024, six children of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, received Holy Confession for the first time in their lives, marking a deeply spiritual and significant moment. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our parish Youth Minister, Mrs. Oksana Logvynyuk, for her dedication in teaching and preparing these children for this sacred event. It was inspiring to see the parents and relatives of these children also partaking in Holy Confession and Holy Communion, reflecting their commitment to faith and family. At the end of the Liturgy, Fr. Michael Hontaruk, our Pastor, alongside Protodeacon Ihor Mahlay, presented certificates and prayer books to the children, while the parents expressed their thanks to Mrs. Logvynyuk and Fr. Michael for their guidance. Following the Liturgy, everyone gathered in the Grand Hall for a delightful coffee hour, prepared by Lucy and Markian Komichak, in celebration of their 40th wedding anniversary. Fr. Michael presented them with a bouquet of roses on behalf of the parish family, and all joined in singing "Mnohaya Lita!" to wish them many blessed years.

Father's Day Celebration at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral

On Sunday, June 16, 2024, St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, celebrated Father's Day with heartfelt prayers and meaningful activities. The clergy and faithful gathered to pray for the good health and wellbeing of our Hierarchs, Metropolitan Antony and Archbishop Daniel, the parish clergy, brotherhood members, and all fathers, grandfathers, and godfathers. At the conclusion of the Liturgies, the entire parish family united in prayer for the repose of deceased fathers, grandfathers, godfathers, and departed parish priests, brotherhood members, and benefactors of the cathedral. In the grand hall, a beautiful program was presented by the parish youth under the direction of our Youth Minister, Mrs. Oksana Logvynyuk. The Junior Ukrainian Orthodox League generously sponsored pins featuring the American and Ukrainian flags, along with chocolate candies, for all men in honor of Father's Day.

Honoring Volunteer and Graduates at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral

On Sunday, June 9, 2024, at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, a bilingual Divine Liturgy was served, led by Pastor Fr. Michael Hontaruk, alongside Fr. John Nakonachny and Protodeacon Ihor Mahlay. During the service, the entire congregation united in prayer for peace in Ukraine and offered special prayers for our graduates from high schools, universities, and colleges. At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, the parish recognized Mr. Hans Harasimchuk with the Outstanding Volunteer Award, acknowledging his exceptional contributions to the parish family. Following this, the parish honored its graduates, whose achievements were also celebrated in the parish bulletin. May God bless Mr. Harasimchuk and our graduates with many blessed years!

Nadia Iwanchuk, age 96, passed away on June 1, 2024, beloved wife of the late William L. Iwanchuk. Loving mother of Roxana Iwanchuk and Lily Beachy (Kent). Proud and loving grandmother of Kiana and Anya; daughter of the late Very Reverend Kalinik and Vera Romaniuk; sister of the late Boris and late Vitali; dear aunt of Suzanna Page, Victor Romaniuk, Andrew Romaniuk, Tamara Romaniuk, Bogdan Romaniuk and Roman Romaniuk; beloved great aunt and friend of many and “mama” to a special few. Relatives and friends are invited to meet at Yurch Funeral Home, 5618 Broadview Rd. Parma, OH 44134 on Thursday June 6, 2024 between 4 – 7PM for a Visitation. Parastas Service at 6:30PM. Parma Seniors Enjoy a Warm Welcome and Insightful Tour at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral

On Wednesday, May 29, the Parma Seniors from the Donna Smallwood Activities Center visited St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio. Fr. John Nakonachny and Fr. Michael Hontaruk provided a comprehensive tour of the cathedral, sharing its rich history and beautiful architecture. The seniors thoroughly enjoyed the informative and engaging tour, appreciating the warmth and hospitality of the clergy. The members of the Donna Smallwood Activities Center are looking forward to attending the St. Vladimir Ukrainian Festival on Saturday, July 13, 2024. All are welcome!!!

New Altar Server Blessed

On Sunday, April 14, 2024, prior to the Ukrainian Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio, and following weeks of preparation and instruction, Kyrylo Sharipov was blessed and enabled for the first time to wear the Altar Boys’ robes. In front of the Iconostas a special prayer was read before the clergy place a robe (styhar) on Kyrylo.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the clergy presented to Kyrylo an Icon of the Savior Jesus Christ, a gift from the Senior U.O.L. Chapter, as a remembrance of this special day for Kyrylo and his family. May God bless him and all family members for many blessed years!

У неділю, 14 квітня, 2024 р. Б., перед початком Україномовної Божественної Літургії у Свято-Володимирському Православному Кафедральному Соборі, Парма, Огайо, після підготовки, Кирило Шаріпов отримав благословіння вперше одягнути стихар для вівтарного прислужника. Перед іконостасом, над ним було прочитано спеціальну молитву. Після відпусту на Літургії, духовенство, від імені старшого відділу УПЛ, вручило Кирилу на згадку цього особливого дня, ікону Спасителя. Нехай Бог благословляє його та всіх рідних на Многая Літа!
