On behalf of the members of the Council of the Metropolia of our Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA, together with all of our clergy and faithful, we extend our deepest and most prayerful condolences to Archbishop Daniel, to his beloved mother Halyna, and to his brother Taras at the untimely falling asleep in the Lord of Ivan – a devoted husband and loving stepfather – who reposed this afternoon after a prolonged illness.

On Saturday, January 10, 2026, the pastor of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio, Fr. Michael Hontaruk, prayerfully blessed all the students, together with the principal, Halyna Yarema, and the entire faculty and staff of the Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies of St. Vladimir Cathedral with Holy Jordan Water.

Through this sacred blessing, God’s grace and light were poured upon our children, educators, and school community, strengthening them in faith, wisdom, and love. May the Lord protect them, guide them in all learning and good works, and grant them peace, health, and spiritual growth throughout the year.

On January 6, 2026, the feast of the Holy Theophany – the Baptism of our Lord Jesus Christ – was prayerfully and joyfully celebrated at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio. The Divine Liturgy was led by the pastor of the cathedral, Fr. Michael Hontaruk. Many faithful gathered to pray, to glorify God, and to receive the great blessing of this holy day. The waters were blessed, the Ice Cross was solemnly blessed, and God’s grace was felt by all. Everyone returned home spiritually uplifted, renewed in faith, and filled with hope and peace.

A beautiful and prayerful sign of our Orthodox faith now stands once again in front of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral - the Ice Cross, proclaiming the mystery of Christ’s Baptism and the revelation of the Holy Trinity. This sacred sign calls us to repentance, renewal, and remembrance of our own baptism, when we were enlightened by the grace of God. With grateful and prayerful hearts, we give thanks to Michael and Tanya Dobronos and their family, and to Architectural Fiberglas, Inc., for faithfully supporting this holy tradition for more than 40 years. We also sincerely thank all the volunteers who gathered today, January 2, 2026, to build this cross with love, unity, and reverence. God willing, and if weather permits, this Ice Cross will be solemnly blessed on Tuesday, January 6, on the great Feast of the Holy Theophany, as we glorify the Lord who sanctified the waters of the Jordan and all creation for our salvation.

On Sunday, December 28, 2025, the Sunday after the Nativity of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio, our parish children filled our church with beautiful carols. It was very moving to see our children and young adults sing with such pure hearts, glorifying our Newborn King, Jesus Christ, for all who were present in church. Their voices reminded us that Christ is born among us, bringing joy, hope, and light to every heart. Through their simple and sincere singing and reading, we all felt closer to the manger of Bethlehem and were encouraged to praise God with childlike faith and love.

On Saturday, December 27, 2025, we were blessed with a truly wonderful Christmas Family Night at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral. Our parish family gathered in a warm and joyful spirit to sing Christmas carols together, share delicious pizza and other food, and enjoy a fun game of BINGO. Laughter, smiles, and the light of Christ filled the evening, reminding us that Christmas is about being together in love, faith, and community. It was a beautiful night that brought hearts closer and made our celebration of the Nativity even more meaningful.

On December 25, 2025, the Christmas Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio was deeply prayerful and truly uplifting. As we gathered before the holy altar, our hearts were filled with quiet joy and heavenly peace while worshiping the Newborn Christ. In the sacred hymns, prayers, and Holy Eucharist, we felt His loving and living presence among us, gently renewing our souls in faith, strengthening us in hope, and uniting us in divine love. Truly, Christ was born in our midst, bringing light to our lives and peace to our hearts.

On Tuesday, December 23, 2025, with prayerful hearts and loving hands, our volunteers came together to decorate our church with beautiful poinsettias in preparation for the radiant Feast of the Nativity of Christ. Each flower became a quiet offering of love, transforming our holy temple into a living witness of joy, hope, and thanksgiving for the birth of our Savior. Through this humble service, the light of Christ was reflected not only in the beauty of the church, but also in the unity and faith of all who labored for His glory. May the newborn Christ reward all our volunteers for their devotion and bless them with peace and abundant grace.

The defense of religious freedom is a sacred responsibility, and whenever any person is denied the right to worship God freely and without fear, such injustice must be addressed with honesty, discernment, and moral integrity. The Church has always upheld religious liberty as a gift from God and a cornerstone of human dignity.

Yet it is both troubling and revealing that some voices now speak passionately about religious freedom while remaining silent when the most fundamental sanctity of human life has been violated on a catastrophic scale.

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, the St. Olha Sisterhood of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma gathered for a truly blessed and joyful evening while making Christmas centerpieces. With love, creativity, and prayerful hearts, the sisters shared fellowship that reflected the beauty of the Nativity season. We offer heartfelt thanks to Pani Iryna Dudyak, President of the Sisterhood, for organizing this wonderful event. May the Lord bless the St. Olha Sisterhood for their faith, unity, and devoted service to the Church.

On Sunday, December 14, 2025, our hearts were filled with joy and thanksgiving as the Choir of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, together with the Ensemble “Namysto” of the Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies of St. Vladimir Cathedral, lifted their voices in praise at the Annual Christmas Carols sponsored by the Greater Cleveland Council of Orthodox Clergy at Holy Trinity Orthodox Church of America. Through sacred song, they proclaimed the mystery of Christ’s Nativity, uniting generations and traditions in one hymn of faith. May the newborn Christ bless all who sang and all who listened, filling our hearts with peace, hope, and holy joy.

Тараса Шевченка при Соборі св. Володимира, взяли участь у щорічному святі різдвяних колядок, організованому Православним Духовенством Клівленду, у храмі Святої Трійці, Православної Церкви Америки. Через святі піснеспіви вони звіщали таємницю Різдва Христового, єднаючи покоління і традиції в одній молитві віри. Нехай новонароджений Христос благословить усіх, хто співав і хто слухав, наповнюючи наші серця миром, надією та духовною радістю.

On Sunday, December 7, 2025, our St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral family in Parma, Ohio gathered together for one bilingual Divine Liturgy. We prayed with one heart and thanked God for His blessings.
At the end of the service, our parish was honored to receive the Bethlehem Peace Light from Ukrainian Plast and the American Boy Scouts. This holy light reminds us that Christ is the true Light of the world and that His peace must shine in every heart.
After church, everyone enjoyed a wonderful St. Nicholas Program in the Grand Hall. It was a blessed day filled with joy, faith, and love. God bless everyone who helped make this a beautiful and unforgettable moment in the life of our parish family!

Після Літургії наша парафія отримала Вифлеємський Вогонь Миру від українського Пласту та американських Бойскаутів. Цей святий вогонь нагадує нам, що Христос є справжнім Світлом світу, і Його мир має горіти у кожному серці.

On Monday, November 24, 2025, the Immigrant Connection organized a special tour for educators from the Cleveland area to St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio. We were honored to welcome these dedicated teachers to our holy temple and to introduce them to the rich spiritual, cultural, and historical heritage of our parish community.

Every November, The Cleveland and Parma Ukrainian communities, along with Ukrainian communities and allies around the world, commemorate the victims of the Ukrainian-Famine Genocide of 1932-1933.

We congratulate Fr. John and Pani Matka Mary Anne on the 53rd anniversary of Fr. John’s ordination to the Holy Priesthood, which they celebrate today, on Wednesday, November 19. Throughout these years, they have shared everything with each other while serving in God’s vineyard – in the Holy Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA in Holy Ascension Parish in Maplewood, NJ, and at our parish of St. Vladimir. We pray that the Lord will continue to bless them with good health, abundant happiness, and many more blessed years.

Press Release of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio

On Sunday, November 9, 2025, the faithful of St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio gathered as one family in Christ to thank God for His countless blessings. The Divine Liturgy was celebrated by Fr. Michael Hontaruk, pastor of the Cathedral, with beautiful responses sung by the bilingual choir under the direction of Choir Director, Markian Komichak.
In his sermon, Fr. Michael said: “My beloved brothers and sisters, the story of the rich man and Lazarus is not just about two men long ago – it is about us. Every one of us has a ‘Lazarus’ lying at the gate of our own heart, waiting for us to open our eyes, to show mercy, and to let God’s love flow through us. And on this day of Thanksgiving, as we count our blessings, let us not forget that the greatest thanksgiving is shown not in words, but in how we love, forgive, and care for those whom God places before us.”
Fifteen altar servers faithfully served in the Holy Altar. After the Liturgy, everyone gathered in the Grand Hall for a Thanksgiving Dinner lovingly prepared by the St. Olha Sisterhood, led by Mrs. Iryna Dudyak, President. The atmosphere was filled with joy, warmth, and unity.
During the dinner, Fr. Michael led the program, and several devoted parishioners were honored with the Lifetime Achievement Award for their many years of faithful service: Yakiv and Luba Burscu, Gregory and Betty Schtscherbak, Sally Morgan, Pauline Osad, Roman and Vera Malysz, Lydia Sereda, Lydia Schkurko, Maria Pobywajlo, and John Norka.
Mr. Geoffrey Greenleaf, Parish Board President, thanked everyone for attending and the Sisterhood for the delicious meal. Fr. Michael added: “This is what unites us as one parish – we pray together, work together, and celebrate together. And when we do this, Christ is with us, and His love shines in us.”
Mrs. Iryna Dudyak thanked all Sisterhood members for their work and generosity. The Sisterhood made a donation to the Capital Improvement Campaign and greeted Fr. Michael and Dobrodiyka Anna on their wedding anniversary, birthday, and names day.
Taras Pendzey and Mykola Mahlay from the Junior Ukrainian Orthodox League thanked the parish for its support and made donations for the Thanksgiving Dinner and Capital Campaign.
Mrs. Oksana Logvynyuk, Parish Youth Coordinator, also offered thanks and, on behalf of the Ukrainian Dance School, made a donation toward the campaign.
Mrs. Halyna Yarema, Principal of the Taras Shevchenko School of Ukrainian Studies, greeted everyone for Thanksgiving, thanked the parish for its support, and congratulated Fr. Michael and Dobrodiyka Anna on their celebrations.
The celebration ended with a joyful raffle and a photo zone beautifully arranged by Victoria Dobronos, where everyone captured happy memories of this day.
May God bless all who helped, donated, and participated. Together we thank God for the love that unites us, the faith that strengthens us, and the grace that guides St. Vladimir Parish into the future.

У неділю, 9 листопада 2025 року, вірні Свято-Володимирського Українського Православного Собору в Пармі зібралися як одна родина у Христі, щоб подякувати Богові за всі Його благословіння. Божественну Літургію очолив настоятель собору о. Михайло Гонтарук, а спів виконував двомовний хор під керівництвом диригента Маркіяна Комічка.
У своїй проповіді отець Михайло сказав: “Дорогі брати і сестри, притча про багача і Лазара – це не просто історія про двох людей минулого, це історія про кожного з нас. У кожного біля воріт серця лежить свій “Лазар”, який чекає, щоб ми відкрили очі, проявили милосердя і дозволили Божій любові діяти через нас. І сьогодні, у День Подяки, пам’ятаймо: найбільша подяка проявляється не словами, а тим, як ми любимо, прощаємо і допомагаємо ближнім”.
П’ятнадцять вівтарників ревно прислуговували у Святому Вівтарі. Після Літургії всі зібралися у парафіяльній залі на святковий обід, який з любов’ю приготувало Сестрицтво св. Ольги під керівництвом пані Ірини Дудяк, голови сестрицтва. Атмосфера була сповнена радості, тепла і вдячності.
Під час святкової програми о. Михайло провадив захід, а парафія вшанувала Премією “За Життєві Заслуги” відданих парафіян: Яків і Люба Бурсу, Григорій і Бетті Щербак, Саллі Морган, Павліна Осад, Роман і Віра Малиш, Лідія Середа, Лідія Шкурко, Марія Побивайло та Іван Норка.
Голова Парафіяльної Ради п. Джеффрі Ґрінліф подякував усім за участь і сестрицтву за смачний обід. Отець Михайло зазначив: “Саме це об’єднує нас як одну парафію – ми разом молимося, працюємо і святкуємо. А це означає, що Христос серед нас, і Його любов сяє у нас”.
Пані Ірина Дудяк подякувала членам сестрицва за їхню працю і підтримку. Сестрицтво зробило пожертву до Фонду Капітального Ремонту та привітало о. Михайла і добродійку Анну з річницею шлюбу, днем народження і іменинами.
Члени Молодшого відділу УПЛ – Тарас Пендзей і Микола Махлай, подякували парафії за підтримку та передали пожертви на Свято Подяки і Фонд Капітального Ремонту.
Пані Оксана Логвинюк, координатор молоді, подякувала за підтримку та, від імені Української школи танцю, зробила пожертву для Фонду Капітального Ремонту.
Пані Галина Ярема, директор Української школи ім. Тараса Шевченка, привітала всіх з Днем Подяки, подякувала парафії за підтримку і привітала о. Михайла та добродійку Анну з їхніми святами.
Святкування завершилося лотереєю та фотозоною, яку чудово оформила Вікторія Добронос, де всі могли зробити світлини на згадку про цей день.
Нехай Господь благословить усіх, хто допомагав, жертвував і взяв участь у цьому святкуванні. Разом ми дякуємо Богові за любов, що об’єднує нас, за віру, що зміцнює нас, і за благодать, що веде нашу парафію св. Володимира у майбутнє.

On Sunday, October 26, 2025, prior to the Ukrainian Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral in Parma, Ohio, and after weeks of prayerful preparation and instruction, Alexander Kuziv and Lucas Ivakhiv were blessed to be vested for the first time in the robes of Altar Boys. Before the holy Iconostas, a special prayer was offered, after which the clergy placed upon them the robe (styhar), signifying their new service in the Holy Altar.

At the conclusion of the Divine Liturgy, Fr. Michael presented Alexander and Lucas with an Icon of our Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, a gift from the St. Vladimir Cathedral family, as a lasting remembrance of this sacred day for them and their loved ones.

May the Lord richly bless Alexander and Lucas and their entire families with many healthy, joyful, and spiritually fruitful years in His holy service!

У неділю, 26 жовтня 2025 року, перед початком Української Божественної Літургії в Свято-Володимирському Українському Православному Соборі в Пармі, Огайо, після кількох тижнів молитовної підготовки та навчання, Олександр Кузів і Лука Івахів отримали благословіння вперше одягнути стихар та приступити до свого служіння в Святому Вівтарі.

Перед святим іконостасом була піднесена особлива молитва, після чого духовенство облачило їх стихар, як знак їхнього нового служіння у Святому Вівтарі.

Після завершення Божественної Літургії о. Михайло вручив Олександрові та Луці ікону Господа нашого Ісуса Христа, як дар від парафіяльної родини Свято-Володимирського собору - на молитовну згадку цього благословенного і святого дня для них та їхніх родин.

South Bound Brook/Somerset, NJ - The sacred grounds of the Spiritual Center of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA once again came alive with prayer, song, and fellowship as nearly 200 clergy and lay delegates and guests from parishes across the nation gathered for the 24th Regular Sobor (Clergy-Laity Congress) of the Church. United in faith and mission, the delegates arrived at the Ukrainian Cultural Center in Somerset, New Jersey, under the theme inspired by the words of the Psalmist: “Serve the Lord with gladness; come before Him with great joy. United in Faith – Dedicated to His Call” (Psalm 99:2)
