On Sunday, April 14, 2024, prior to the Ukrainian Divine Liturgy at St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, Parma, Ohio, and following weeks of preparation and instruction, Kyrylo Sharipov was blessed and enabled for the first time to wear the Altar Boys’ robes. In front of the Iconostas a special prayer was read before the clergy place a robe (styhar) on Kyrylo.
At the conclusion of the Liturgy, the clergy presented to Kyrylo an Icon of the Savior Jesus Christ, a gift from the Senior U.O.L. Chapter, as a remembrance of this special day for Kyrylo and his family. May God bless him and all family members for many blessed years!

Б., перед початком Україномовної Божественної Літургії у Свято-Володимирському Православному Кафедральному Соборі, Парма, Огайо, після підготовки, Кирило Шаріпов отримав благословіння вперше одягнути стихар для вівтарного прислужника. Перед іконостасом, над ним було прочитано спеціальну молитву. Після відпусту на Літургії, духовенство, від імені старшого відділу УПЛ, вручило Кирилу на згадку цього особливого дня, ікону Спасителя. Нехай Бог благословляє його та всіх рідних на Многая Літа!

A heartfelt thank you to Tamara Host and Iryna Dudyak, our esteemed chairpersons, and to all the dedicated volunteers of the St. Vladimir Fish Fry. Your tireless efforts over the past seven weeks have made our Fish Fry dinners not only delicious but also a cherished community tradition. On Thursday, March 21st, St. Vladimir Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral warmly welcomed visitors, extending the embrace of their rich cultural and spiritual heritage. Led by the gracious guidance of Fr. John Nakonachny and Fr. Michael Hontaruk, guests embarked on an enlightening tour of the Cathedral, immersing themselves in its sacred atmosphere and architectural beauty. It was a moment of connection, where hearts were touched, and souls were uplifted by the profound spirituality and history woven into the fabric of this venerable place of worship.

As we embark on the sacred journey of Eastern Orthodox Great Lent, let us fast not only from food but from sin and everything that leads us into sinful behavior, belief and deeds; let us fast with love and humility as a means to an end and not an end in itself; let us reflect on the purpose of fasting, as a foundation of our spiritual growth and the desire to become one with God. Drawing inspiration from the Holy Fathers, who remind us of the transformative power of repentance, and Holy Scripture, which guides us on the path of humility, may this Lenten season be a time of profound self-reflection, prayer, and adherence to the teachings of our Holy Orthodox Tradition.

The St. Vladimir Parish Youth, joined by the Junior UOL chapter, shared a delightful evening on Saturday, March 9, 2024 at the Michael A. Ries Ice Rink. Laughter filled the air as parents and youth glided across the ice, fostering bonds and creating cherished memories. This enjoyable event was made possible by the dedicated efforts of Oksana Lovynyuk, our Parish Youth Coordinator, and Mykola Logvynyuk, President of the Junior UOL. Their meticulous planning and enthusiastic spirit ensured a wonderful time for all, exemplifying their commitment to our community's youth. We extend our heartfelt gratitude to them for orchestrating such a fantastic outing.

Oleh Mahlay will lead a group of volunteer singers to sing the responses for the Pre-Sanctified Liturgy during Great Lent.  The purpose of this project is to have singers familiarize themselves with this important service, improve their singing, and to produce a comprehensive service book.

The adoption of the Revised Julian Calendar at our annual parish meeting last Sunday, January 28, 2024, marked a significant and blessed moment in our faith community's history. With the overwhelming support of 84.8% of our parishioners and the presence of His Eminence Archbishop Daniel, we received the approval and blessing of the Council of Bishops of the Ukrainian Orthodox Church of the USA. Starting on March 25, 2024, on the feast of the Annunciation of the Birth-Giver of God, our new Ecclesiastical Year will commence. This decision will undoubtedly enhance our spiritual journey and bring us closer to the heart of our Orthodox Faith.

Прийняття Ново-Юліанського календаря на наших щорічних парафіяльних зборах минулої неділі, 28 січня 2024р. ознаменувало знаменний і благословенний момент в історії нашої парафіяльної родини. Завдяки переважній підтримці 84,8% наших парафіян і присутності Високопреосвященнішого Архієпископа Даниїла ми отримали схвалення та благословення Собору Єпископів Української Православної Церкви США. Починаючи з 25 березня 2024 року, у свято Благовіщення Пресвятої Богородиці, розпочнеться наш новий церковний рік. Це рішення, безсумнівно, посилить нашу духовну подорож і наблизить нас ближче до нашої Православної Віри.

Last Tuesday, February 20, 2024, was a momentous occasion as the Parma City Council bestowed a well-deserved resolution upon the esteemed V. Rev. John Nakonachny in recognition of his extensive service to the community. The event was attended by a gathering of clergy, parishioners, friends, and members of the Ukrainian American Veterans, all coming together to honor Fr. John Nakonachny's enduring commitment and profound impact on the lives of many. It was a poignant testament to his dedication and selflessness, reflecting the unity and gratitude. Mnohaya Lita!

I hope this message finds you well. As we approach the Annual Parish Meeting scheduled for Sunday, January 28, 2024.  We will hear reports from our clergy, parish board, and various parish organizations about the accomplishments and activities of the past year in 2023I  As members in good standing, we will also have the opportunity to vote not only for board members as your representatives, but also one that holds significant importance for the future of our parish: the calendar issue. I completely understand how and why this issue can be a sensitive and emotional subject for many of us. However, it is crucial that we approach this matter with an open heart and a focus on what is best for the future of our parish, rather than personal preferences.
